Many months ago, a small, independent, recording company opened its doors and started an epic journey to form a new kind of record label. A label where the substantive quality of music came first, and the growth and development of the artist trumped mainstream success or appeal. With a primary goal of recording, producing, and promotion of ‘Romantic’ British-influenced Rock genres of music, our mission has remained the same—put out music that means something. On December 11th, 2010, Melodrama Recordings Ltd. is proud to announce the release of “Victory at Sea”, the long awaited debut album from The Last Great Love.
“Victory at Sea”, the debut album from The Last Great Love, is a tale of love, loss, despair, and redemption, set as a series of remembered conversations told by a drowning man. Written as a complete work, and intended to fit within the space and confines of a single 12″ record, the album pays tribute to the glory days of concept records and ‘Rock Operas’ from the 1960’s & 1970’s. Taking inspiration from such diverse influences as Pink Floyd, The Smiths, Catherine Wheel, and Beethoven, the record paints a sonic landscape with huge guitar tones, haunting melodies, staggering rhythms, and impassioned storytelling. By combining classic recording techniques and modern technology, this virgin release seeks to rewrite what a debut album can be.
“Victory at Sea” is available on the following formats: 12″ 180 gr. Virgin Vinyl Record, Compact Disc, High-definition MP3 digital album, and AUDIOGARB™ garments (custom apparel with a free HD MP3 download of the album), and can be purchased both online and in Seattle area stores.
